About our Firefighters
Puget Sound Fire is a regional leader in fire suppression and emergency medical services. With 17 fire stations that serve the cities of Covington, Kent, Maple Valley, SeaTac, and Tukwila, along with Fire Districts 37 and Fire District 43, our emergency responders are a trusted partner to our communities.
Our firefighters have the opportunity to serve not only diverse populations, but also diverse geographic areas from urban to rural. This provides our firefighters the opportunity to work in a variety of environments.
Aside from fire suppression and emergency medical services, our firefighters have the opportunity to be certified in a variety of technical areas included water rescue (both swift water and surface water), technical rescue, heavy rescue, confined space, hazardous material and wildland urban interface. These specialties create an opportunity for continuous learning and career growth.
Being the largest fire agency in south King County, Puget Sound Fire also has exceptional promotion and advancement opportunities. At the suppression level, our promotional opportunities include: Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief and District Chief. Additionally, our firefighters also have the opportunity to work in our Fire Prevention Division.
