Fire Garage and Facilities

The Fire Garage

Who We Are

The Fire Garage Consortium is a collective group of local fire agencies that have come together to build a maintenance provider that can cost share and manage resources to provide a better product. The Consortium has administrative oversight from a board of fire chiefs from each respective agency. Additionally, our Mechanics and Automotive Group are members of the IAFF

What We Do

Our Mechanics work on all types of fire apparatus to include pumpers, ladder trucks, aid cars, heavy rescue, and ARFF crash trucks. We also have an Automotive Group that services staff cars, aid cars and other support vehicles.

In addition, we employ a support staff that manages the administrative aspects and parts room inventory.

Certifications & Continuing Education

Our team of mechanics are certified as Emergency Vehicle Technicians (EVT) and/or have Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications. Additionally, our Mechanics are paid an incentive to have the Master level rating in these different certifications. They do annual training and testing to maintain them. Other factory training is available. The Fire Garage provides for and pays for all the training.

Applicants do not need certifications to apply for a position with The Fire Garage.

Facilities

The Facilities and Property Management Division is responsible for maintaining sixteen fire stations and several support buildings totaling approximately 285,000 square feet of building space.  To complete this, we have implemented an aggressive preventative maintenance program to lengthen the life expectancy of the equipment and reduce costly repairs. This approach also reduces out of service time for critical systems that would lengthen response times and/or affect the health and wellness of firefighters and staff members.
