Area Hazards
The Hazard Identification & Vulnerability Analysis (HIVA) provides information on potential hazards whose impacts would go beyond those considered “routine emergencies” within the City of Kent and its surrounding area.
Hazards are separated into two major categories that serve as a basis for local emergency planning: natural and technological.
Natural disasters include, but not limited to: drought, earthquake, flooding, landslide, snow and ice, volcanic eruption, and windstorm/tornado
Technological hazards include, but are not limited to: air crash, civil disturbance, communication failure, energy shortage, hazardous materials, hazardous liquid pipeline, transportation, urban fire, and water shortage
